Arriving to Reykjavík

International flights to Iceland land to Keflavík airport (KEF) that is about 50km south west from Reykjavík. There are a few options to travel from the airport to Reykjavík:

1) Airport transfer (flybus) is probably the easiest option. You can buy a ticket to the bus terminal in Reykjavik (BSÍ), or all the way to your hotel (recommended).

2) You can also book a taxi, but that will cost quite bit ...

3) The third option is to rent a car. The total cost may be very similar to the airport transfer option especially if there is more than one person travelling together. Check the parking options of your hotel before choosing this option.

Campus

The University of Iceland campus is located within a walking distance from downtown Reykjavik.

The conference is held in Askja building (Sturlugata 7, 102 Reykjavík).

Local transportation

The local bus operator is called Strætó. The website includes a route planner and you can install their app for convenience. However, distances within downtown Reykjavík are relatively short and most destinations can be reached by walking.

Currency

Icelandic króna (ISK) has exchange rate of about 150 ISK for 1 EUR. However, you do not need to exchange any currency as all stores and cafes accept credit cards.

Weather

The weather in Iceland is unpredictable, constantly changing and sometimes quite harsh. So it is best to dress accordingly! You can check the weather forecast e.g. from the Icelandic Met Office.
